Build & Foster Relationships
Building and fostering relationships with caring and loving people you can rely on is integral to having the support you need when adversity strikes. Traumatic events can lead you to use isolation as a coping mechanism. Accepting help and support from those you trust and who care about you supports the development of resilience.
It’s important to prioritize genuinely connecting with people both one-on one and in groups, whether it be a book club, a faith-based group, a volunteer organization or any other local or civic group. Fostering a sense of belonging within one’s community helps to build and strengthen the resilience muscle.
